The Puzzle Mountain Lodge is located a few short miles from the Sunday River Ski Area in Newry Maine. The Lodge is located in the Powder Ridge Subdivision Across the valley from the actual slopes. Driving times and directions are provided below!
We are approximately 1.5 hours from Portland, Maine and the Portland International Jetport.

Driving Directions
FROM THE SOUTH: (Portland, Portsmouth, Manchester, Boston, Hartford, New York City, Philadelphia and beyond!)
- Take I-95 past
the Portland area and exit in Gray, Maine ( Exit 63 )
- Once off the Interstate,
take a right at the light and then stay in the left lane!
- Take a LEFT at
the next light then another quick LEFT at the following light.
(Onto Rt. 26). Note - there will be a McDonald’s to your right
and after the second light, a Dunkin’ Donuts!
- Proceed northbound
on Rt. 26 for approximately 51 miles. Along the way, you will
pass a Wal-Mart in Oxford (on your left at the light) and a
Hannaford supermarket on your right shortly thereafter in Norway.
Be sure to follow Rt. 26 through Norway. You will bear right
at the light in Norway followed by a fairly sharp left turn
in the adjoining town of South Paris (Just stay on Rt. 26!!)
- Enjoy the drive
through the Oxford Hills. Your next major turn will be in the
town of Bethel. Shortly after passing the "Welcome to Bethel"
sign, you will make a RIGHT on Parkway Road. This is marked
with a sign that indicates "Rt. 2 and Recreation Area"
- This short parkway
will be followed by a RIGHT hand turn onto Rt. 2 go two point
six miles (2.6 mi.) then take a LEFT onto the Sunday River Road
(note the Sunday River Brewing Company just past the turnoff
onto the Sunday River Road.)
- Once on the Sunday
River Road, proceed 2.1 miles until you come to a split in the
road take a RIGHT and proceed another 1.1 mile to the next
split.
- Take a RIGHT at
the next split and proceed past the covered bridge (on your
left) after nine-tenths of a mile (.9) take a RIGHT hand turn
onto Douglass Road there is a sign for the Powder Ridge subdivision.
- Head uphill and
remain on Douglass Drive until you come to Keystone Dr. (seven-tenths
of a mile (.7 mi) on your left…Look for lots of rocks on both
sides of the road.
- Bear LEFT and head
uphill onto Keystone Drive. Puzzle Mountain Lodge is seven tenths
of a mile (.7 mi.) at the crest of the hill on your right hand.
This is a cul-de-sac so feel free to make a loop! You are
THERE!
From the WEST: (Central New Hampshire and north plus Vermont)
If coming from Central or Northern New Hampshire or Vermont, Take Rt. 2 east into Bethel. Once you skirt into the north side of town on Rt. 2, you will go over an overpass (Note the Rite Aid on the LEFT) from here…
- Go approximately
2.6 miles then take a LEFT onto the Sunday River Road note
the Sunday River Brewing Company just past the turnoff onto
the Sunday River Road. Once on the Sunday River Road, proceed
2.1 miles until you come to a split in the road take a RIGHT
and proceed another 1.1 mile to the next split.
- Take a
RIGHT at the next split and proceed past the covered bridge
(on your left) after nine-tenths of a mile (.9) take a RIGHT
hand turn onto Douglass Road there is a sign for the Powder
Ridge Development.
- Head uphill
and remain on Douglass Drive until you come to Keystone Dr.
(seven-tenths of a mile (.7 mi) on your left…..
- After
bearing LEFT, head uphill on Keystone Drive. Puzzle Mountain
Lodge is seven tenths of a mile (.7 mi.) at the crest of the
hill on your right hand side. This is a cul-de-sac so feel
free to make a loop! You are THERE!
From the EAST: (Bangor, Northern Maine, and Atlantic Canada)
- Take I-95
west to Newport (Exit 150) Follow signs for Rt. 2 West
- Take Rt.
2 through Rumford and continue west to Bethel area.
- Once on
the outskirts of Bethel, you will see the Sunday River Brewing
Company on your RIGHT. Immediately thereafter, take a RIGHT
onto the Sunday River Road.
- Once on
the Sunday River Road, proceed 2.1 miles until you come to a
split in the road take a RIGHT and proceed another 1.1 mile
to the next split.
- Take a
RIGHT at the next split and proceed past the covered bridge
(on your left) after nine-tenths of a mile (.9) take a RIGHT
hand turn onto Douglass Road there is a sign for the Powder
Ridge subdivision.
- Head uphill
